Integrative Therapy
What is Integrative Therapy?
When you choose to work with me via my integrative method, this enables us to work together in a way that combines different modalities, theoretical approaches and methods to support your personal and unique needs.
As a BACP registered Counsellor, Health Coach, ED specialist and hypnotherapist, we use whatever works best for you whether you are binge eating, bulimic (including orthorexia) or struggling in any way with your relationship with food and your body, and are exhausted with it all.
We will work together to sort out your eating issues (“nutritional rehabilitation”) and manage your relationship with yourself, food and your body, using a variety of approaches depending on your needs.
How does it work?
We begin with an initial discovery session of 2 hours where you can talk in a safe space .with complete confidentiality. We “deep dive” into your history and current issues, and learn more about what you want to achieve from working with me.
My programmes are client- led in that if something isn’t working for you, we can and will change it, but you should also expect to be gently challenged; change is not always comfortable for us as humans and our brains are programmed to look for safety (familiarity) and can almost rebel against making changes, even when they will help us!
You will learn about how our minds work and how, with practice and support, you CAN make positive changes that will help you to break free of binge eating, purging, body hatred and preoccupation with weight, shape and size dominating every moment of your life.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on you to some extent but as a guide, I work in blocks of six 55- minute sessions, usually weekly to start with. We check in at the end of week five so we can plan. Sessions will reduce over time so you still have the support as you start to build your life without your ED.
As well as the one- to- one sessions you will also receive:
- Resources to support your journaling and information – gathering ( a key part of early therapy)
- A bespoke hypnotherapy track created especially for you to support you between sessions
- Additional “between session” information sheets
- A midweek check in via email or WhatsApp (your choice)
Continued support following therapy
When you finish your 1-1 time with me, regardless of whether through CBT-E or integrative approach, you will be invited to join my private and confidential Facebook Group, which is different to my “standard” Facebook page, so you can continue to benefit from further support materials and a community of people who understand your needs. You will receive my blogs, podcasts and newsletters and will also benefit from access to any new resources I bring on board, either completely free or at a significantly reduced cost.
